Conversation with a Plastic Sandwich

September 12, 2008

Tom carefully stacked the plastic food: the bottom of a plastic hamburger bun, two plastic chicken nuggets, a leaf of shockingly green plastic lettuce and two bun tops. He picked it up. The nuggets slid onto the floor.

“No, no, NO!” he grumbled as he rebuilt his Dagwood special.

He picked it up again, and two burger buns escaped with the lettuce.

He set the sandwich on the floor, heaved an exasperated sigh, and began to lecture. “Don’t start,” he hissed. “Don’t even start with me. I am NOT IN THE MOOD.’

It’s so funny (sometimes) to hear adult phrases come out of the mouths of kids. I’m just waiting for the day Sydney starts overemphasizing “so.” As in, “I’m SO not appreciating your behavior.” Oh boy.

Great to see you posting. Hope you are well.
